Sajan, Founder of Agaamin Technologies

I am Sajan. I am an ex-advertising professional who decided tech is his true passion. Being in advertising ensured that I had to always learn about new stuff. Sometimes it was as mundane as a soap, sometimes it was about cutting-edge possibilities of Hyper Reality. Also, as a person I have a long list of hobbies and interests and I have pretty much dabbled in all of them. Over time all of this exposure condenses into information, knowledge & insight which can then generate ideas and solutions. In my case, this phenomenon found expression as Agaamin Technologies.

Agaamin Technologies

Agaamin means “Future” in Sanskrit. We are a Smart name registry. The 2nd in the world and the first in Asia. Agaamin is on a mission to create a fun and inclusive internet that works for all 1.4 billion Indians. The closest example to a smart name is domain names which are used to name websites (e.g.: google.com), a smart name on the other hand is ‘programmable’ and thus has unlimited use cases.

For instance, your smart name can be the name for your avatar in the metaverse, your wallet address, your login to apps, in short, your entire online identity. We will introduce Non-Fungible Top-Level Domains (NFTLDs) for smart names not just in English and vernacular languages but also in Emojis and Symbols. We will welcome the new year on the 1st of Jan 2022, with the TLD. भ for Bharat in Hindi. The rest will follow soon.

If you can think it, we can express it! You can check us out at Agaamin.in

What do you think about the Digital Literacy of India?

In India, the digital literacy is quite high, in Bharat however it is a problem. Also, the mindset seems to be one of trying to land a job and have a good career. When it comes to using the ability to literally “speak with machines” to create amazing things, we still have a lot of catching up to do.

According to you, what is the biggest problem facing by India in Digital Era?

While there is a logistical problem of last mile connectivity the biggest issue to my mind is the language divide. While apps these days support vernacular languages the larger structure of the internet is still English. Domain names are English, Email ids are English and so on. This can be intimidating to those who don’t naturally think in English. Their ability to use internet will always be limited compared to someone who is fluent in the language. Agaamin will change this situation.

What is your favourite book and why?

The first proper novel I ever read as a kid was Adventures of Tom Sawyer. My mom gave it to me to improve my language. I have since then read a whole lot of things but this book left a powerful impression. It was both, a pleasant light hearted story as well as thought provoking. It has a chapter named ‘Tom paints the fence’. I learnt the lesson in that chapter that perception is everything. In fact, many of my school textbooks used to have this chapter as a short story. So ended up reading it quite a few times. Found it very useful during my advertising days as well.

Is it possible to balance personal life and professional life for an entrepreneur?

Its mandatory. If you disbalance one, you will invariably disbalance the other. Sure, one can focus on one of them for a short while but it is not sustainable in the long run especially if you want to create something of substance.

For the forthcoming era
