Professional journey - Dr. Shilpi Pandey

My professional journey began as an Assistant Professor in Biochemistry at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Jabalpur. It was an enriching experience to nurture the seeds of knowledge in fertile young minds and reap results in the form of scholars. My interaction with undergraduate students involved not just core academics but also value education and life lessons. I believe that teaching and learning are a two-way process where the educator has to be flexible enough to take constructive input from the learners for mutual benefit. In my five-year journey with St. Aloysius College, the advanced learners won University gold medals in Biochemistry, whereas the weak learners were motivated to perform well in all subjects. I also handled the responsibility of conducting exams, setting and moderating question papers as well as valuating answer scripts from other universities too. The refresher courses and orientations, as well as the practical lessons learnt here, have been instrumental in shaping my career as an educator.

At Hislop College, Nagpur, I taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Hislop School of Biotechnology and Department of Biochemistry. My strong research and teaching experience helped my team and me transform an ailing department into a hotspot of education, which has produced many scholars, competent to face any challenge.

My students have been placed well in reputed research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and government jobs. Many of them are pursuing their higher studies in other countries. It gives me immense pleasure and contentment to see my students achieve great heights personally and professionally.

In my role as Assistant Lecturer in Biology (Foundations) at Aakash Educational Services Ltd., I am dedicated to giving my best in terms of knowledge and motivation. I consider myself successful in arousing their interest in Biology and developing a foundation for their journey towards becoming a doctor or pursuing a career in the wide spectrum of Life Sciences. My students have been qualifying Science Olympiads with flying colours and securing 95% and above in their school and board exams.

As an educator, I have always taken student feedback positively and constantly strived to give them the best content, with appropriate use of various teaching tools and creative techniques.

Having a strong belief that merely IQ is not enough for an individual’s success and all-round development, I have successfully helped enhance both EQ and SQ of students too. It is heartening to see them transform into intellectual and compassionate beings.
