Sean Bledsoe, Founder, Healthy Plus LLC
& Managing Director, Healthy Plus India Pvt. Ltd.
Could you provide an introduction of
yourself to our audience?
Sean Bledsoe, the founder and owner of Healthy Plus
LLC. A U.S. company. Sean established Healthy Plus LLC. in parallel to the
Obamacare law, implemented in 2012. After leaving the sports world, Sean had a
vision to become impactful in the healthcare world. After seeing his father
have a battle with cancer, he made up his mind to enter the healthcare world.
The focus mindset was simple: providing a digital
concept for health risk assessment all while creating a data collection
mechanism that can be integrated with doctors, clinics, and hospitals. So, Sean
created a plan and hired a team of physicians and tech specialists to create a
medical prediction algorithm for all health risk assessment questions. He
called it the "DigiDoc."
Could you tell us about your venture,
Healthy Plus LLC, and the range of services it offers?
The Healthy Plus system was developed to gather
patient wellness survey data and provide a projected risk assessment with
recommended actions to take to mitigate these detected risks.
Why is this important? In many cases the doctor is
aware of some of the predictive risks but the Healthy Plus1 system identifies
up to 400 medical data points to give the doctor and the patient a more
complete overview of your risks. This concept was built to be a positive
process for a reduction in the doctor’s workload, the patient being made more
aware of the health risks meant to take actions to increase healthier living
and the insurance provider seeing risk mitigated and skyrocketing health costs contained.
What inspired you to start Healthy Plus
LLC after a career in college athletics, and how has your leadership shaped the
company's direction?
My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and we
were fortunate enough to have captured it early enough for treatment. While
seeing the care being conducted at the hospital, the concern was how many
patients experience no assistance outside of the doctor’s site. As I reviewed
the new Obamacare law, I saw a system that was built to create a care value
post a doctor visit. This motivated me to get a view from 3 points: the
patient's view, doctor view and the payer’s view. The passion has grown
immensely since this time.
Could you share with us your professional journey, highlighting significant
milestones and achievements?
Under my Sean's leadership, Healthy Plus was the first
wellness company to integrate as the innovative provider for preventative
wellness services in the Athena Marketplace. Healthy Plus has worked on
projects in 4 countries outside of the US: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and
Botswana. Healthy Plus has also tagged awards from Shortlister as Top Health
Risk Assessment Company, Top Health Coaching Company, Top Heart Disease
Prevention Company, Top Disease Prevention Company and Top Telehealth Company.
Healthy Plus has not presented itself in India and is poised to set the
standards in corporate wellness, government projects, and insurance-based care
programs. We are uniquely positioned for massive growth in India.
Healthy Plus has been involved in initiatives like integration into Athena
Marketplace and collaborations with large care organizations. Could you
highlight some standout projects?
Healthy Plus was recognized in India as one of the
up-and-coming companies by the Confederation of Indian Industry or CII. We have
partnered with Healthonify Pvt. Ltd., a diabetes care management company; we
completed a tie-up with Mendzone Pvt. Ltd., a corporate wellness company; and
most recently, we are now partnered with Medicover Hospitals. Our goal is to
create internal partnerships with Indian companies along with establishing 500
"DigiDoc" micro-clinics pan-India.
What are your core areas of expertise, and
how do you stay updated with the latest trends in health coaching,
telemedicine, and preventive care to drive Healthy Plus's success?
We have always followed the guidance from the W.H.O.
(World Health Organization) which has been highly encouraging countries to
rapidly move from curative care to "preventive care." Why this is
important: healthcare costs are on a rise but it is mainly due to
"reactionary care," or the people who wait to get sick and then seek
care. But one of the most important factors for our company is that post-COVID
we are finding that survivors of the pandemic are now experiencing
cardiovascular issues, blood flow issues, and brain-functioning issues. Now
more than ever is the time to educate the people about the importance of a
health risk assessment to fight chronic diseases early and reduce the increased
capabilities.
What guidance would you offer to
professionals looking to enter the healthcare or entrepreneurial space?
The main guidance would be to always follow the
process. Very rarely do start-ups trend upward in a fast manner. Create a
process that is 3 to 5 years and follow the process without skipping any steps.
This will give the best opportunity for sustainability.
