Could you briefly introduce yourself and your professional journey?


I am a Bachelors and Masters Computer Science and Engineering and MBA in Global Management from Top Schools with a research and development technology background and applicability in several industries in my early career. I am a Chief Technology Officer and a Certified Independent Director in my current Top Management career.


What drives your passion for innovation across so many tech domains?


My passion for doing something useful for humanity drives me to innovate solutions to problems that makes life easier and better. I have contributed in most of the current technological advancements that humanity gets to enjoy. Seeing my innovative work get to mass adoption motivates me to do more.


Could you tell us about your key focus areas and how they define your work today?


Technological advancements make life easier on a mass scale. Digital transformation of several industries that benefit humanity is a key focus area. For example, Whatsapp-like calls, texts and attachments have made telecommunications much more useful and easier that have enriched human communications and business interactions. This is a technology I worked on 15 years ago. My innovative work usually takes 5-10 years for mass-scale adoption.


How would you describe your leadership philosophy in managing global teams?


Leaders have to develop their soft skills and emotional intelligence to nurture and develop their teams while being demanding on the deadlines and commitment to deliverables. This is especially true when dealing with professionals and in a creative industry like Information Technology.


What’s your outlook on the future of AI, cloud, and data-driven innovation?


The 2000s saw the dotcom boom, 2010s saw the social media boom, now 2020s we are in the AI and cloud boom. Commoditizing technological innovations like utilities have seen incredible speed, efficiency and accuracy in many business processes around the world.


How do you maintain balance between high-pressure roles and personal well-being?


This is something many IT professionals suffer from. After a few health issues emerge with extended breaks from work, people have learnt to develop work-life balance. At an early age, we can think of the sky as the limit as workaholics, however, as we age, our body does not co-operate that well and it is essential to maintain work-life balance to be efficient and do regular duties without disruption.


What advice would you give aspiring technology leaders building global careers?


This is a career that has immense potential to benefit humanity while paying well. Keep that in mind as your motivation and you will be able to overcome frustrations and dejections that will inevitably crop up. Look back on your successes and not problems as a propulsion to achieve more successes.
