Dr. Surindher: Aesthetic & Plastic Surgeon, Mentor, Business Coach, Author, and Healthcare Business Consultant.

1. Could you briefly introduce yourself and share what inspired you to specialize in plastic and aesthetic surgery, and how your vision has evolved over the years?

I’m Dr. Surindher D.S.A — a board-certified Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgeon with more than 23 years of experience in transforming lives through art and science.

My journey began with rigorous surgical training, including microsurgery and reconstructive procedures, which laid the foundation for a deep understanding of human anatomy and creative aesthetics. Early in my career, I recognized a significant gap in patient-centric aesthetic care — one that focused not only on physical transformation but also on emotional confidence and quality of life.

This inspired me to found AestheticsPlus, one of the first purely aesthetic surgery practices in Bangalore, where the vision was to make safe, ethical, and accessible cosmetic care available to everyone.

Over time, my role has expanded beyond surgery into mentorship, education, authoring, and healthcare business consulting, as I now strive to elevate the next generation of aesthetic surgeons and innovators.

2. How does it feel to be featured in India’s Pride: Icons Who Inspire the Nation, and what does this recognition mean to you personally and professionally?

Being featured in India’s Pride: Icons Who Inspire the Nation is an immense honor. It reinforces the values that have driven me throughout my career — integrity, innovation, and empathy.

On a personal level, it is humbling to see our decades-long commitment to patient care and medical excellence recognized on a national platform. Professionally, it amplifies the message that aesthetic medicine/surgery is not merely cosmetic — it is about restoring confidence, dignity, and emotional wellbeing.

This acknowledgment motivates me to continue mentoring and advising healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs across practices in India, the UAE, and beyond.

3. As a founder and director of AestheticsPlus and a mentor to younger surgeons, how do you balance your clinical responsibilities with leadership, education, and practice growth?

Balancing these roles requires intentional prioritization and a supportive team culture. At the heart of it, I remain a clinician first, because direct patient care continually refines my empathy and expertise.

Simultaneously, I have built structured mentorship programs like AesthetiPreneurs & PractElevate, designed to educate young surgeons in both the art of refined surgical skill and the science of running a successful practice.

Delegation and a shared vision among our leadership team ensure operational excellence, while regular knowledge-sharing and thought leadership engagements keep both my practice and those I mentor at the forefront of industry innovation.

4. Plastic and reconstructive surgery can have profound psychological impacts. How do you approach holistic patient care that includes both aesthetic goals and emotional wellbeing?

Holistic care means seeing patients as individuals with unique motivations, fears, and aspirations — not just surgical cases.

At AestheticsPlus, we begin every consultation by understanding the why behind a patient’s desire for change. This patient-first approach ensures that every recommendation aligns with the individual’s emotional comfort and long-term wellbeing, not just anatomical enhancement.

Furthermore, by reducing recovery times through minimally invasive techniques and providing continuous follow-up support, we help patients navigate the emotional journey that accompanies aesthetic transformation.

5. With growing international clientele and practice presence in places like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, how do cultural expectations influence aesthetic standards, and how do you navigate these in your work?

Aesthetic ideals vary across cultures, and this diversity shapes how we approach each patient.

I have operated on clients from 42 countries and counting. Clients from the Middle East, America’s, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe arrive with different expectations, influenced by local beauty standards.

My approach is to listen deeply and integrate these cultural nuances with scientifically sound and safe practices, ensuring that the outcome feels both natural and personally meaningful.

Education plays a key role — I work closely with clients to set realistic expectations and to bridge cultural aesthetics with clinically appropriate solutions.

6. Patient expectations in aesthetic medicine are constantly evolving. How do you stay ahead of trends while maintaining ethical practice standards?

Staying ahead means embracing lifelong learning.

I actively engage with global research, attend international conferences, and incorporate cutting-edge techniques that enhance safety, efficacy, and patient satisfaction.

However, trends must always be tempered with ethical considerations and patient wellbeing.

We never advocate procedures for the sake of popularity — rather, each intervention is customized, safe, and evidence-based.

It’s this balance between innovation and integrity that defines ethical practice.

7. What advice would you give to someone aspiring to build a global reputation in the field of aesthetic surgery, similar to your own international practice?

Firstly, master your craft — technical expertise lays the foundation for trust.

But beyond skill, cultivate emotional intelligence, business acumen, and leadership qualities.

Seek opportunities to teach and to learn, because mentoring and collaboration broaden your impact.

Build a patient-centric philosophy where integrity and transparency guide every decision. And finally, never stop evolving — as the field advances, so should your vision, always anchored in ethical principles and a genuine desire to transform lives.
