Anbu Kumar, Founder & CTO, CodingScientist

This is Anbu Kumar, Founder & CTO of CodingScientist. Anbu comes with 23 years of rich experience in the software industry, having worked for Fortune 100 companies like IBM, HP, NetApp and a few others, both in India and the US. Anbu has a deep passion for robotics, artificial intelligence, IoT and embedded electronics.

CodingScientist EduLabs

CodingScientist EduLabs (www.CodingScientist.com) is a bootstrapped EdTech startup founded during the summer of 2021 by Anbu Kumar as Founder, CTO and Rosalyn Loritha as Co-Founder, Chief Design Architect. Anbu strongly believes that the Indian education system needs a significant shift from "Scoring High Marks" to "Skill Based Learning". CodingScientist's primary mission is to evangelise hands-on practical education in Artificial Intelligence, which includes Machine Learning and Deep Learning, along with Robotics, which combines Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Programming.

Building the Control

I got bored of a 30 day salary cycle with the same monotonous routine of a software professional, especially when you are in a leadership role sitting in a corner cabin, which does not mean anything to me, no challenges, no thrills. I was always passionate about robotics and artificial intelligence. During the weekend, I usually spend a lot of money and time on building robots, programming them, building some AI into the robots, building electronics projects etc. Several of my colleagues started admiring my hobby, and I noticed a lot of demand to buy such projects and products. I did some research in schools and colleges with a surprising result of zero skills, zero knowledge, but a lot of interests amongst the students, hobbysts, and industry professionals as well. This triggered me to take the risk of coming out of my 30 day salary cycle to build CodingScientist.

Down the Road of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence existed even in the 1950's, but due to a lack of data and computing power, the concept of AI remained as a concept. Today, Artificial Intelligence is adopted in every industry. You name it, then have it. Artificial intelligence will continue to act as a technological innovator in the coming years. AI has become a reality in a matter of years. Machines that help humans with intelligence are not just in sci-fi movies but also in the real world. At this time, we live in a world of artificial intelligence and robotics that was just a fiction story during my school days. India needs several million highly skilled workers to contribute towards the advancement of artificial intelligence and robotics.

The widening of territory

Since the inception of CodingScientist in 2021, we have seen significant interest from schools and college students from India, the United States, South America, Singapore, Germany, and other countries who want to gain hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, which are not core subjects in their academics. We are bridging the gap between industry and academia by providing real time, real world hands-on skill development in AI, Robotics, and Coding. Our concept of "Zero To Hero" through our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/CodingScientist has witnessed a tremendous amount of traction. We believe in Albert Einstein’s Quote – "Education is Not About Learning The Facts From Books, But Training of The Mind To Think." Hence, our focus on hands-on skill development calls for high demand across the education industry. We intend to grow by 10X by the end of 2022.

Stretching the balance

It's a bit challenging when it comes to prioritising between family and my tech startup and friends, but I do take my time to chit chat with my close friends via WhatsApp and spend some time with my family. Thanks to the changing work environment post-COVID, which is actually a boon to working from home, I have my AI-Robotics Lab and office at my home itself, so it's easy to interact with family members while working @ CodingScientist.

Where do you want to see the company in the next 5 years?

Five years is too long. As I said earlier, we are expecting to grow 10X by the end of 2022. Considering the volume of interest we are generating around the world, our goal is to become the "stalwarts" of AI-Robotics Education Platform on the planet in the next 24 months.
