Could you introduce yourself to the audience?

“Hello, everyone. I'm Sunil Kumar S., an HR leader with over two decades of diverse experience dedicated to driving transformational change through strategic people management. My journey has been centered on empowering organizations to thrive by creating inclusive, forward-thinking cultures that not only support business goals but also champion the growth and well-being of every individual. I'm thrilled to be here to share insights from a career devoted to unlocking the potential within teams and organizations.”

Perhaps you can guide us through your educational and professional history, including a few high points and experiences that shaped your career?

“My professional journey started with a Bachelor's in Commerce from Christ College, Bangalore, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from NIPM Kolkata, and further, an Executive Diploma in HR from IMT Ghaziabad. I went on to become a Junior Executive and gradually progressed, collecting valuable exposure at Bharti Airtel, PNB MetLife, and Sistema Shyam TeleServices. Each profile, I believe, was a stepping stone to understanding and sharpening my approach towards HR. One of my career milestones has been taking the role of Head of HR at Bhima Gold Private Limited, where I had the opportunity to align human resources strategies toward growth and resilience. Through each of these experiences, I have learned that a people-first approach not only constructs powerful teams but basically sparks the heartbeat of an organization.”

What are your HR expertise areas, and what sparked your passion for the field? How has your perspective evolved?

“I’m deeply skilled in talent management, employee engagement, change management, diversity and inclusion, and process optimization. My passion for HR stems from a belief that empowered individuals create empowered organizations. Over time, I’ve witnessed HR evolve from a support function into a critical strategic partner, integral to achieving business success. This journey has taught me that HR’s real power lies in its ability to nurture cultures of innovation, inclusion, and resilience—where everyone can see their role in the larger mission.”

Could you share some background on your skills and certifications?

“My expertise spans a broad array of HR functions, including succession planning, talent acquisition, and process automation. I’m certified with a Green Belt in ‘Productivity in Sales’ from Motorola, am a certified POSH Trainer, and hold a specialized certification in HR from the TA Pai Management Institute. These qualifications, coupled with practical experience, have allowed me to drive effective, data-backed strategies that enhance organizational performance while creating meaningful experiences for employees.”

Could you share some of the most outstanding awards you've received over the course of your career?

“Recognition has come through contributions that truly made a difference-from improving talent management to driving impactful organizational development initiatives. Being feted at almost all the organisations I have worked for efforts that improved not only employee retention but also alignment with business growth is, in itself, a powerful reminder that recognition always comes through value creation and positive change within teams and organizations.”

In the next several years, what goals do you hope to achieve in your HR career?

“With a focus on the future, my aims are too deeply infuse technology into HR workstream processes, simplify further, and make things more efficient while delivering greater value in terms of employee-centric experiences. I'm also enthusiastic about mentoring future HR leadership leaders, teaching them essential skills and vision to drive meaningful change. Through focusing on digital transformation and developing the next generation of leaders, I aspire to support a world in which HR will remain at the leading edge of change and growth.”

How do you contribute to employee well-being? What advice would you give to aspiring HR leadership pros?

“To me, employee well-being is about creating a culture of respect, inclusion, and support—where mental health and work-life balance are prioritized. To aspiring HR leaders, my advice is to align closely with business needs while at the same time being unwavering advocates for people. Leadership in HR isn't only about policies and procedures; it's about being that visionary who develops potential, enables resilience, and inspires trust. I encourage embracing change, making continuous investments in learning, and recognizing the greatest impact comes when we work to build workplaces where people really feel valued and empowered.”
